Take Me Out To The Ballgame

The Fuel Manufacturing crew decided to dip out of work early and head over to the local softball diamond for a healthy dose of Homerun Derby. Unfortunately, the fence was a hefty 310 feet from home. To put that in perspective, right field in Yankee stadium is 314 feet, and I am no Babe Ruth. Mathews, an avid softballer who plays in at least 13 leagues during the year, came in confident that he would take down Casey. Casey was a pitcher in JuCo as well as Division 1 at Tennessee Tech (where he suposedly threw a no-hitter). Seriously, this guy is legit. So he says.

I matched up against Cheek (who took it upon himself to break the $300 borrowed bat by taking a hack off the hozzle) and we both displayed our warning track power with a couple of one hoppers to the fence. Neither of us cleared the fence. Mathews was up next with the same results, zero home runs. Casey came up last, knocked a few off the fence in the air, and finally cleared one over the left field fence, winning the contest 1-0-0-0…how lame. We are now in search of a good little league field where I can put up some Josh Hamilton numbers (2008 J.Ham of course).
